ARCHIVED - THE NEW BASEMENT TAPES

Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to collaborate with a 27-year-old Bob Dylan? That’s exactly what T Bone Burnett was thinking when he got his hands on a batch of lyrics written by Bob Dylan in the 1960’s and put together an all-star cast of musicians now known as The New Basement Tapes. The dream team made up of Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, vocalist Rhiannon Giddens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and My Morning Jackets’ Jim James assembled at the iconic Capitol Studios in Hollywood for two weeks and toiled with the task of putting music to Dylan’s words.

The end result is Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes,  an epic 15 song collection which debuted on Harvest Records, followed by a Showtime documentary which premieres Friday, Nov 21st. They recently graced the TV screens of households everywhere when they played Ellen and they treated CBS Morning Show audiences an in-depth interview about their creative and recording process.
