One of Brooklyn’s favorite and arguably most prolific bands, TV on the Radio, recently released their fifth studio album Happy Idiot on Harvest Records. For the premiere of their first single “Happy Idiot” they teamed up with Funny or Die to showcase a 1960’s styled Speed Racer themed video featuring none other than Paul Ruben (Pee-wee Herman!) and Karen Gillan of Doctor Who. Following the video premiere NPR’s Ann Powers wrote a fantastic all-encompassing feature titled “TV On The Radio And The Paradox Of The Midcareer Band,” while outlets like SPIN, Stereogum and CoS also reflected back on the creative and personal history of the band leading up to the new release. This weekend TVOTR will play the last of their sold out NYC dates at Music Hall of Williamsburg before finishing up their tour in Portland, OR.
